This user friendly resource helps users satisfy four key career guidance needs:
career matching, career exploration, post secondary planning, and portfolio development.
It is recommended for the typical user to go through the following steps:
Step 1: Finding the Right Career (Assessment)
Start off with the “Career Matchmaker” assessment. Matchmaker will help user discover their work interests and provide a list of suggested careers.
Step 2: Exploring Careers
Users can click on one of the suggested careers to go to its profile within the “Explore Careers” section. This section provides in-depth information on each career, including education and training requirements.Users can also see multimedia interviews with real people in each occupation.
Step 3: Planning Education and Training
The user can use the “Explore Education and Training” section to learn where to get the required education and training. They can go directly to those school profiles by using the “Related College and University Programs” links in the Education section of the occupation profile.
Step 4: Portfolio Development
The user can use the “Portfolio Tool” throughout the career exploration process by saving their work in their portfolio. This will also create a document that they can use to present themselves to prospective employers, post-secondary admissions staff, and others.
